STUDENT-ATHLETE HEALTH INFORMATION

ATHLETES with COMPLEX HEALTH CONDITIONS Though most of our student-athletes are generally healthy, some have complex health conditions requiring school nurse support. Examples of such health conditions are:

diabetes

asthma with frequent inhaler use

recent hospitalization

seizures

severe allergies with current need for epinephrine auto-injector

heart conditions

history of multiple concussions

recent concussion

SKPS’ School Health Registered Nurses work in collaboration with you, your doctor, coaches, and the athletic trainer to make sure the health needs of your student-athlete are supported through updated assessments, individualized health plans, and physician orders and by training your coaches to recognize and respond to urgent and emergent health symptoms.
