Tests Administered at South Salem

SAT & ACT Testing Information

South Salem does not recommend one test over the other.  Both are valuable indicators of college and career readiness.

Students of all ages looking to take the SAT or ACT (American College Test) at a different time than offered by South should register using the following sites: SAT Suite of Assessments or ACT.

The SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) 

The SAT  is administered once per year at South Salem High School only for Seniors.

PSAT Testing Information

The PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test) is administered once per year at South Salem High School for Sophomore and selective Junior students. The PSAT offers you a chance to get familiar with the SAT and to practice taking the test. This can help you reduce anxiety and save time on your SAT test day.

WorkKEYS Testing Information

The WorkKeys test is administered several times throughout the school year for Senior students who need to pass their Essential Skills in Math and Reading.  WorkKeys does not offer a test for students to pass their Writing Essential Skills.

SBAC Testing Information

The Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) is administered once per year at South Salem High School for Junior students during the Spring. SBAC is a statewide assessment system to measure how well students understand and are able to apply the skills and knowledge required by the state standards.

ASVAB Testing Information

Students interested in joining the military should plan on taking the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) exam. The ASVAB is offered once per year at South Salem High School for Junior students.

ASVAB Testing occurs on PSAT day the second Wednesday of October.
