Saxon Start-Up Day – August 19th

 

 

South Salem Entrance

Saxon Start-Up Day is the kickoff to the new school year! All incoming students should plan to register for on-campus parking, view their class schedule, pay for an ASB card and/or yearbook, and sign-up for a locker. Staff will be available to help families navigate ParentVUE/registration and answer questions about Yondr implementation. Tours will also be available to all families.

 

Students will not be photographed on Saxon Start-Up Day. All students will be photographed on September 15th and 16th during the school day. Retake day with be October 27th.

 

This is a drop-in event—not a scheduled session. Families are welcome to arrive anytime during the hours below and stay as long as needed. Whether you're stopping by to sign up for a locker, taking a school tour, or want to learn more about Yondr, you can visit at the time that works best for your family.

 

Drop in anytime during one of these timeframes:

  • 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

 

The building will be closed from 12:00–1:00 p.m.

 

Please Note: If your student is unable to attend Saxon Start-Up Day, they will have an opportunity to take care of things on the first day of school.

 

BEFORE SAXON START-UP DAY

Update your student’s online enrollment verification for the 2026-27 school year online using the updated ParentVUE app. All parents/guardians are required to update/confirm their student’s contact information and emergency numbers yearly by signing into their ParentVUE account and completing the 2026-2027 online registration.

 

One ParentVUE account works for all of your children in the Salem-Keizer School District. If you have not activated your ParentVUE account, please contact the school office at 503-399-3252 so we can assist you.

PURCHASES

 

ASB Card – $40.00

Free admission to all regular-season CVC league games where South Salem is playing, regardless of location (a savings of over $150), plus discounted tickets to Homecoming and Prom. Does not include playoff or postseason games.

 

Yearbook – $55.00

 

Sports Passes

 

  • Annual Family Pass: $185 (2 adults and all kids in family through 8th grade. All year.)
  • Annual Individual Pass: $95
  • Fall Family Pass: $100
  • Fall Individual Pass: $60

 

The Hive Merchandise

The Hive Club will be selling South Salem merchandise from 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m.

CHERRIOTS YOUTH ZERO PASS

Getting to school just got easier! Thanks to our partnership with Cherriots, the City of Salem, and the City of Keizer, youth ages 0–18 can ride Cherriots Local, Regional, and Lift buses free of charge.

 

What's new for 2026–27?

 

 

  • Schools will no longer distribute bus passes.
  • Students in grades 8–12 (ages 14–18) must scan a Youth Zero Pass QR code when boarding.
  • Passes are available starting July 20 through the Cherriots app or as a physical card at Cherriots Customer Service, 222 High St. NE, Salem.

LOCKER SIGN-UP

Locker numbers and combinations are assigned during Start-Up Day. Two students share a locker, and at least one partner has to be present in order to secure the locker on this day. Students are responsible for the locker’s contents and condition.

 

VEHICLE REGISTRATION

All students parking on campus are required to register their vehicle and have a student parking pass posted on their rear windshield. On-campus student parking is in the lower Howard Street lot only and is first come/first serve parking.

 

SCHOOL TOURS

Student-led school tours and maps will be available during Saxon Start-Up Day; no sign-up is necessary.

 

CLASS SCHEDULE

Draft Schedules will be available via StudentVUE/ParentVUE starting on Saxon Start-Up day. Schedule change requests need to be made through the online system by Monday, August 24th. Schedules are NOT FINAL until the first day of classes. Before school starts you may see changes in periods or teachers as counselors balance class sizes. If you need to make a change to your schedule, the request link will be posted on the front page of the South Salem website to take you to the schedule change portal:

 

  • Requests will be processed in the order they are received.
  • Students should check their school email in case their counselor has questions or follow up information about your requested change.
  • Requests submitted after the request portal closes may not be considered.
  • Please do not email your counselor to request a change.
